I didn’t ask for this. Despite what you think. Who asks to be born? To be left alone, defenseless, and new? I forgave you eventually — or at least I thought I had.

I couldn’t hang on to the anger anymore. I had to break the cycle. Parents are supposed to fight their demons for their kids. Right? Following in your footsteps would have done more harm than good. My kids don’t deserve the pain you inflicted on me.
